Jagriti Mahila Samakhya

The Jagriti Mahila Samakhya initiative is centered around creating awareness amongst women regarding their rights. The efforts are streamlined by community facilitators or Sahyoginis towards organizing and creating support groups amongst women and adolescent girls through which they network with one another. The women are encouraged to engage in dialogue concerning their rights, livelihood and sensitize themselves on issues comprising health, sanitation, education, gender violence, economic empowerment and Panchayati Raj. Through the Jagriti Mahila Samakhya, women are empowered to make choices for their individual growth.

To strengthen the idea of Samooh or community groups , community training programs are regularly conducted where the aspect of mutuality gets highlighted and nurtured. From creating platforms for women to share their inspiring journeys to workshops that are facilitated by Sahayoginis, mobilizing women across villages – Parivartan is proud of the women who’ve come together in the 10 years of our dedicated efforts in the Siwan district of Bihar.

The prejudice against women continues even though equal rights and access has become a narrative in the popular consciousness of urban India. Gender stereotypes dominates gender relationships and gender empowerment still has a long path ahead – especially in rural sectors.
